My practice is devoted entirely to mortgage law. I assist individuals and their employers throughout the United States who seek mortgage lender, broker, and loan officer licensing. I also advise banks, mortgage companies, and other financial institutions on federal and state mortgage law compliance, and I provide counsel on employment issues relating to the mortgage industry and other issues such as net branching concepts and joint ventures between real estate brokers, lenders, and title agents. Extensive Mortgage Law Experience Since 1981, I have practiced as in-house or outside counsel for mortgage bankers and financial institutions. I have worked for both large and small mortgage companies, including Advance Mortgage Company Ltd. (at the time the seventh largest mortgage company in the United States); Regency Savings Bank FSB in Ann Arbor, Michigan; and Independence One Mortgage Corporation (Michigan National Corporation), a top 25 mortgage banker. In 1994, I joined the Detroit, Michigan, firm of Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer & Weiss, PC, as a partner, representing mortgage companies and title agencies. In 2002, I joined the regulatory compliance group of Trott & Trott, PC, as supervising attorney. I opened my own practice, Mark K. Rabidoux, PLC, in March of 2005. Professional Memberships and Qualifications I have served on board of governors of the Michigan Mortgage Lenders Association, including president of its Southeast Michigan Chapter and as a member of the association's legislative committee. I am also a member of the Michigan Mortgage Brokers Association, serving on its Government Affairs Committee. In October 2004, I was awarded the Certified Mortgage Banker designation by the Mortgage Bankers Association of America, one of only a handful of lawyers nationally who hold that designation. I am a frequent lecturer on mortgage compliance issues, particularly those arising from the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act ("RESPA"). Sandra M. Mamo is a legal assistant who has several years of experience in the mortgage licensing process, having prepared and submitted applications on behalf of clients to a number of states.
